$200 Million Sale Brings Alberta Fiscal Year Total To $2.6 Billion

This week’s sale attracted $199.9 million on 188,906 hectares at an average price of $1,058. The sale was highlighted by two parcels in northwestern Alberta south of Grande Prairie that combined for nearly $135 million. The large bonus parcels were all acquired by brokers. The Wednesday sale featured a bonus high bid of $96.7 million by Scott Land & Lease Ltd., paying an average of $11,801 per hectare for the 8,192-hectare licence. The broker acquired the rights to several sections at 61-25 W5, 60-25 W5, 60-24 W5 and 61-24 W5.
“Scott Land & Lease acquired 62 per cent of the overall sale including the one very notable licence,” said Gregg Scott, president of Scott Land. “That one parcel would be one of the top highest priced licenses in Alberta history.
“We are on track to have a record year of land sale revenue in Alberta this year. As this is a leading indicator, it bodes well for the drilling and services side going forward.”
